The first batch of tomato seedlings have been growing like crazy this week. I was going to wait another week to pot them up but then I tried to lift one up out of the tray and found that the roots of all of the plants were starting to intermingle and grow together.
I saved all of the 4" pots from the perennials I bought for the shade garden last year. They ended up being the perfect size for the seedlings.
While I was at it the 4 Tomatillos were also potted up.
The Ground Cherries are getting much larger now, they started off very tiny. They were planted at the same time as the tomatoes and tomatillos.
2 weeks ago I started the sweet potato slips and only 2 sprouted. I decided to start a few more to give it another try. I think the others might have been too dried up.
Outside the lettuce is looking really good!
I see lots of yummy salads in my future!
Lovely salads and your seedlings look very nice. Mine are not quite as big but will be transplanted into larger containers next weekend.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, what do you do with tomatilos? It's one veggie I never know what to use it for.
We eat a lot of salsa in the summer and use tomatillos to make salsa verde. I also have a pickled tomatillo recipe that I've been meaning to try. This is my first year trying to grow them so I grew a couple extra just in case. I'll probably plant 2 and give the others away.
DeleteEverything looks great! Our temps are low and more rain coming which is great since I planted lettuce seeds in one of my squares last week. I need to seed a few more squares soon.
