Is this March or May?

As I drove home today I couldn't help but notice so many of the trees budding and blooming. When I got home the first thing I did was take a stroll around the garden to see what plants are waking up in this unusually warm March weather.

The hydrangea that I transplanted from my old house last spring is starting to get its leaves.

The early flowering irises around the oak tree are all blooming now.  I planted them in this area because it's just below the kitchen window. It's a nice view while I brew my coffee in the morning.

It looks like the hyacinth will be blooming soon as well!

The weather looks beautiful for the next 10 days, so hopefully I'll be able to get lots of gardening and yard work done this weekend. The normal temperature for this time of year is highs in the 50's and lows in the 30's.

I received a chart in the mail with my plot assignment for the community garden. I may try to stop by the garden tomorrow to see if my plot has been measured and marked off yet. Once that's done I can start putting up the fence and get a soil test.

  1. Love the flowers! We're a little bit colder here but everything starting to wake up as well. I found first forthysia flowers today and my crocuses are blooming as well!

  2. Ya, things are budding and popping up here in Ontario too. I'm sorta freaking a bit. At the rate it's warming up so, if we get a cold snap some of the evergreens and flushed perennials are going to suffer. So weird this year.
